We asked ourselves this question – what is the best thing we can do for ourselves in 2022? Well, in the midst of the situation we’re in, we’ve determined that the best thing we can do for ourselves is to take care of ourselves, both physically and emotionally.
Beauty comes from underneath, but just like Jim Carrey said in his movie – “That’s something ugly people tell themselves”, so we can’t forget about our looks too. So, today, we’ve prepared a few tips on how to take care of your looks, your mind and your body. Here are the best skincare and self-care tips for 2022!
1. Always Start By Washing Your Hands
Before you wash anything else on your body, and especially your face, you have to wash your hands first. Every cleanser and lotion in the world won’t be enough if you wash your face with dirty hands. There are so many bacteria, viruses and all kinds of allergens on our hands, and if we touch our face with those hands – they’re going to get there too. So, before you start your face cleansing routine – wash your hands thoroughly.
2. Never Use Hot Water On Your Face
Even though you might think hot water will “open up your pores”, – that’s not happening. Pores don’t open and close – they always stay the same size. However, what you can do with hot water is remove all the essential natural oils from your face, leaving it dry and irritated. That will only increase the need for lotions and moisturizers, but none of them will be able to replace the natural skin oils. So, instead of using hot water – wash your face with either lukewarm or cold water.
3. Don’t Go Overboard With The Products
The worst thing you can do for your skin is to overwhelm it with cosmetics. Whether it’s make-up or just “skincare routine” products – you have to use them in moderation. Nothing good can come out of excess cosmetics. Heck, even too much water can be bad for you, let alone various chemicals found in skincare products.
Instead of using too many products – stick to the basics. Use a gentle cleanser or an exfoliating scrub, a moisturizer that’s suited for your skin type and protect your face from the UV rays with a sunscreen – as simple as that.
4. Hydrate Daily, Exfoliate Weekly
As we’ve said, using a lot of products can do more bad than good, but using it in moderation is good for you. That is why, when it comes to moisturizers and exfoliating scrubs – you have to know how to use them. Moisturizing daily will help you hydrate your skin and keep it glowing thought the day. However, if you exfoliate every day, you’re going to nullify the effects of the moisturizer and remove all the good stuff from your face. Sure, your skin will look fabulous after exfoliating, but that’s short-lived. If you overdo it – your skin will become dry and too vulnerable. So, only do it once a week.
5. Hydrate, From The Inside
Is there a better way to take care of yourself than by drinking water? To be fair, there is, but this is a great start. Don’t let your day go by without drinking at least 2 liters of water – especially during the summer. The lack of hydration will leave you tired, grumpy, incapable of doing any real work, and it could have some other, quite serious consequences on your health. So, our first self-care tip for you – drink a lot of water. As you know, this should also help keep your skin clean.
6. Exercise Every Day
Nobody says you have to go to the gym and lift heavy weights, but you do have to exercise. Moving around and doing exercises on a daily basis will literally transform your life. Not only will you begin to look better after a few weeks, but you’ll also feel like a million bucks. There’s nothing that gets our blood pumping and body moving like a little bit of exercise. Only half an hour a day should be enough to keep you in solid shape and in overall good health.
7. Meditate Every Day
Mens sana in corpore sano – a healthy mind in a healthy body. You can’t forget to take care of your mind. The best way to ease your mind and start feeling better is by meditating daily. Once again, you don’t have to change your whole life in order to start meditating. Just take your time.
Start by meditating 10 to 15 minutes each day and gradually increase the time. Before you know it, you’ll be meditating anywhere from half an hour to an hour each day, and you won’t be able to recognize yourself. You’ll be calm, centered, and ready to take on whatever life throws your way!
8. Eat Healthy
We can’t forget about diet. After all, you are what you eat, right? Now, forget about those stupid diets and restrictions – you can eat anything. Naturally, you’ll want to maintain a happy, healthy balance between eating veggies and devouring pizzas over a movie, but if someone tells you that you can’t eat pizza – tell them off! You absolutely can. Pizza’s soul food; burgers also. And feeding your soul from time to time should be as important as feeding your body.
You have to sleep! While we understand that you lead a busy life (we do, too), we also understand that sleeping at least 8 hours a day is necessary for pretty much every single human being on the planet. Don’t sacrifice your health and well-being because you want to make some extra money. Work hard, but also sleep. Don’t waste your time by scrolling through the Instagram feed every single night for two hours before you go to bed. That’s not self-care – sleeping is.
